A THOUGHT VERSE

Why does the why bug us?

Whys can’t drill straight down:

All the world’s whys

slant drill down toward

the Touchstone bedrock experience.

There, one has experienced cleanly that we exist,

against the single contrary

of our non-existence.

That’s a straight-down drill job.

~ ~ ~

But, not everyone has the Touchstone experience,

yet everyone experiences bugging whys.

And, along their slant-drill paths,

whys reach the Touchstone bedrock tangentially

and are more obscured

by the jostling company of other whys.

And each why drill-head is lubricated

with its own contraries

that implicitly hold more whys.

That we exist is primordial

because the Touchstone’s single contrary,

non-existence,

holds nothing,

not even whys.
